A.J. McWain is an author and musician living in Massachusetts with his wife, daughter, and their gray rescue cat. Trained as a jazz pianist and composer, he spent years performing, teaching, and recording avant-garde, electronic, and cinematic music before turning to writing. A veteran who served as a military police specialist in Iraq and Kuwait with the Massachusetts Army National Guard, McWain brings varied experiences to his storytelling. A.J. McWain is an author/musician/composer living in Massachusetts with his wife, daughter, and their gray rescue cat. He’s been telling stories his whole life and is now finally spending more time writing them down.
Trained as a jazz pianist and composer with a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, McWain spent years performing, teaching, and recording avant-garde, electronic, and cinematic music before turning to writing. As a composer, his creative work has been honored by grants from the American Music Center, ASCAP, the American Composers Forum, and with residencies from Akiyoshidai Art Village (JPN), Atlantic Center for the Arts (FL), and Yaddo (NY).
